Concealer is one of those items that I was really afraid to switch. Years of reading beauty magazine recommendations and going through friends’ makeup bags were followed by many trips to Sephora, Duane Reade and Saks until I finally settled on a couple of reliable concealers that I had on rotation. To be honest, it took me a while to find a conventional under-eye concealer that worked and I was attached.
When I decided to make the switch to non-toxic skincare and makeup, I dreaded the idea of having to try a bunch of concealers again. I did my research, searched through friends’ makeup bags and went to a couple of store and was lucky enough to find my favorite concealer on the second try: RMS’s Un Cover-Up in 22.
RMS’s Un Cover-up has a cult following for a reason. I feel that it not only works as a cover-up but it really hydrates the area. The other great thing about it is that it is easy to blend into the skin when you need to cover up a pimple or other imperfection. The lauric acid in coconut oil helps kill the bacteria that causes acne, and because one of the main ingredients in the Un Cover-up is Coconut Oil, using it to cover up a pimple will actually help it heal.
TIP: Use Setting Powder
At the beginning, I thought that it wasn’t going to work because, having coconut oil as its base, it smudges quite a bit in hot climates. Because I had just started using non-toxic beauty I assumed that I had to make a few sacrifices and I wasn’t going to be able to find one with staying powder. The secret to making it stay in place was easier than I thought. By using a bit of W3ll People’s Realist Invisible Setting Powder, RMS’s Un Cover-up stays on for a whole, hot and humid, day.
Why is it worth the swap?
