It’s rumored that women eat over 4 pounds of lipstick in a lifetime. I don’t know if this rumor is true, but if it is I want to make sure that I’m accidentally ingesting the right kind of lipstick. I’m pretty sure that whatever the actual statistic is, I’m eating way above the average amount of lipstick because I am definitely a lipstick girl.
Lipstick is the one makeup item that instantly makes me feel put together. I reach for it when I want to dress up a look or for when I want to look put together with almost no makeup. I swear by the powers of lipstick so it was very important that I find lipsticks that I loved so that I wouldn’t keep reaching for my conventional ones (something that I have to admit I did a lot in the beginning).
I recently realized that I have, for a lack of a better word, hoarded a bunch of great neutral lipsticks and I wanted to share them with you. They’re all different formulas and colors of neutral-ish tones that go with any look at any time of day.
This is a thick, creamy, highly pigmented lipstick for when you want full coverage. It softens and hydrates lips with shea & jojoba and has a slight plumping effect with vegetable hyaluronic acid.
I love it because the color goes on smooth and it doesn’t leave your lips dry like most conventional full coverage and long-lasting lipsticks.
The color Syrah is a brownish pink that works well for when you want a bolder neutral.
This anything-but-basic strong mauve by beauty counter is one of the boldest colors on this list. This creamy high-pigment color is long lasting with a satin finish.
I really like the moisturizing formula and the peppermint scent. When I want to tone it down a bit, I dab it on with my fingers instead of swiping it on.
This unique formula goes on liquid but stays on matte. It is also very long-lasting and doesn’t flake or dry out lips like its conventional counterparts.
I love the versatility of the On Pointe shade because this muted ballet pink works well for day or night. When I want a less matte look but want to keep the long-lasting color I layer Social Paint’s Pucker (below) over it.
I can’t wait for them to come out with a true red.
I love this so much that I have 3 of these. It’s the perfect lip balm with color and I always have one at the bottom of my handbag. It’s super hydrating and has a great yet subtle color.
I have to admit that I also have it in crimson rose, but it’s a bit pinker so I use it less.
More of a lip treatment than just a plain lipstick, FitGlow’s Beach is the perfect complement to a summer tan (or a great bronzer). This nude lipstick goes on subtle and smooth but has just enough shimmer to not be too basic.
I also like that the formula supports collagen replenishment to increase fullness and firmness. Who doesn’t want that?
This is the ultimate luxury lipstick. The color is thick, smooth, really pigmented, lasts long and is moisturizing, and the sleek packaging doesn’t hurt either.
I love the heavy texture of this lipstick because it’s more creamy than what I thought a pigmented long-lasting lipstick should feel. I also really like the smell. It’s the perfect formula for bold and vibrant color so I’ll probably buy No. 21 next.
I hadn’t used lipgloss in years because I remembered it as a sticky substance that wasn’t that pigmented and mostly just existed to stick to my hair when the wind blew by, but this one definitely changed my mind.
I can’t stay away from Social Paint’s Pucker. I use it by itself and layered over other colors. I love the glossy look and how it’s super moisturizing. The color also happens to work for just about everyone.
This tinted lip conditioner is very sheer and very moisturizing. I recommend it for those that want color that they can adapt by applying more or less.
I love that nobody’s baby is the perfect sheer nude and that just a touch works sometimes. My mom swears by this formula too!
Let me know if you try any of these!
